Setting up Your Advisor Profile

Your Advisor profile is the best way to begin or expand on your brand as an advisor. Your profile will be featured in our Public and Private Company Directories and which means it’s accessible to companies and individuals all over the world, who are seeking your expertise!

Your profile has a unique URL which can act as a digital business card that you can share in and outside of your network. Your URL can be found when previewing or editing your profile. To learn more about how to increase your exposure click here.

Your profile consists of several elements and we recommend completing your profile to increase your potential to receive inquiries and invitations through your Advisor Profile. Your skill and industry tags help determine how you show up in the search results in our Public and Private Advisor directories.

Read below for more information and best practices on setting up each element of your Advisor Profile.

Above the fold on your profile.
  • 1. Title: Your title below your name will be your most recent position listed in your experience section.
  • 2. Headline: A one-sentence explainer where you can highlight your top 3-4 areas of expertise.
  • 3. Skills: You can list up to 5 primary skills on your public profile and choose up to 30 These should represent the top 5 skills you'd like to leverage as an advisor.

💡 Pro Tip: For your advisor headline and primary skills, we reccomend choosing a few transferable skills and several more niche skills to round out your advisor profile and attract a wider range of opportunities looking for your specific expertise.

  • 4. Advisor Biography: Your biography is intended to showcase your most recent accomplishments, experience, and relevant skills you’d like to leverage as an advisor. Your biography should include your top skills, and your greatest achievements within the last 10 years. We reccomend you choose accomplishments that align with the skills you'd like to leverage as an advisor and include as many relevant metrics as possible.
  • 5. Experience: Your experience section is where you can highlight your professional journey, similar to a resume. We recommend highlighting your roles within the last 10 years and if there are specific accomplishments you'd like to highlight under a specific role, you can add bullet points under the experience section.

6. Board Positions: This section represents the boards you're currently on through AdvisoryCloud and is visible to companies and visitors to your public profile which makes your more attractive for additional advisory roles.

  • 7. Interests: Since your advisor profile opens you up to other professional opportunities and executive-level networking, you'll want to choose 2-4 interests to help give companies a clearer idea of how you'd like the relationship to develop outside of the digital boardroom. This will also help you attract companies who are looking to fill a full time role, board of directors role, and/or pay for project-based/consulting work, amongst other additional benefits listed by the Board Owner.
  • 8. Industry tags: You can select up to 5 industries to display on your public profile. We recommend displaying the industries you have the most recent and extensive experience with that also align with the areas of expertise you'd like to leverage as an advisor.

  • 9. Work with Me*: All advisors can receive a inquiries, which is a complimentary 15-minute introduction with you. This helps ensure any inquiries you receive are business related and it's a great way to turn inquiries into long-term advisory roles or project-based work.
  • 10. Hourly Rate*: For members on the Executive membership plan, you can receive paid engagements through your Public profile by setting and displaying your hourly rate. The default for all Executive members is $500 per hour.
